I am so pleased to be able to carry on my Mother's passion for daylilies. She introduced me to daylilies 20 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I have met so many awesome people on my adventure and have learned many wonderful things. Thank you Mom, you are my angel that watches over me!

2017 Introductions

My collection this year is in honor of my love of Classic Rock. What can I say, I grew up listening to it in my teens and in my opinion there is not much better. My first is named Classic Rock-N-Roll. It has the classic look of the the older daylilies that we all love. Just an Old Fashioned Love Song has the look of what love feels like. Bubbly all over, like the edging on this one. Take a Walk on the Wild Side speaks for it's self with that wild appearance. The next one is named after my Daughter, Melissa. Always Run to Sweet Melissa. Do you recognize the artist that sings these lyrics? Sara You're a Poet in My Heart is for my Daughter Sara's name sake. These lyrics are from one of my all time favorite classic rock singers. The next one reminds me of beautiful butterflies soaring through the air. Dog and Butterfly., another favorite song of mine. Cheap Sunglasses is one of my favorite blooms. It's a very large diploid and reminds me of the shades we all used to wear back then. Last but not least (a big 7" bloom) is Bye Bye Miss American Pie. Just close your eyes and imagine yourself cruising down the road in your red convertible listening to these old tunes. Boy, those were the days.

2016 Introductions

I have carefully picked the names of my 2016 introductions to highlight special people and places that has surrounded me almost my whole life. Sheila's Angel Heart is named after my childhood friend that truly has the heart of an angel. Bert's Corner was an antique store in my hometown and the owner touched  so many lives, she passed this year. The rest are historic places in the beautiful Arcadia Valley that I have grown up enjoying most of my life. I hope that you will enjoy my flowers and make a point to visit and see for yourself all the beauty that surrounds me.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    2015 Introductions
            New Lower Pricing

My 2015 introductions have special meaning to me. Rapture Ready was named for a  friend in my church that when she saw it said "Oh that's what the Rapture will look like." Clouds From Heaven reminds me of fluffy clouds. Prayer Warrior has the look of a gentle but vigilant person in prayer. Song in My Soul is like a beautiful tune coming from the heart. Myrtle Marie is for my Mother's name sake. She is why I love daylilies. When I am in my garden, I feel she is with me. Mapping Arcadia Valley is the beautiful valley where I live.

Will The Circle Be Unbroken is a favorite song of mine and the band in this one reminds me of the tune. Grannies Gone Wild is named after a group of girlfriends that have grown older together and share the love of horseback riding. We have went from wild cowgirls to wild Grannies.

   Gardening 101

As soon as you open the package, unpack them and soak the roots for an hour or so in water that is cool, but not cold. If you have liquid fertilizer on hand, add a tiny bit to the water. This treatment will help them recover from the shock of being dug, packed and shipped. Plant the new plants within a few hours if possible. .

Daylilies grow best in full sunlight but will do well if there is sun for at least 6 hours of the day. They don't do well in deep shade or in water logged soils. Daylilies like loamy soil in which organic matter has been incorporated, with good drainage and moderate moisture. Set plants 2 feet apart. Dig a hole for each one, 2 feet in diameter and 18 inches deep. If you have compost, dried manure, peat moss or other organic matter, mix it with the soil you remove. Then add enough soil to fill the bottom of the holes so the plants can be set at the proper depth. The crown - the area where the root clump meets the foliage - should be planted an inch under the ground. Add soil around the plants and press firmly in place. Water in well. Water plants every other day for a week or two after planting but do not keep them soggy. Then water them once a week until you are sure they are well established. Mulch reduces weed competition and slows evaporation of the soil surface. Water during dry periods to maintain health foliage and encourage repeat flowering.    Karen Sherrill
